Nissan Star Wars Augmented Reality Experience at LA Auto Show
Nissan started its relationship with the Star Wars franchise when it debuted the Rogue One Edition of the Nissan Rogue compact crossover. Now, with its The Last Jedi-themed augmented reality experience that debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nissan celebrates the film and the future of its technology.
The Last Jedi
Before The Last Jedi releases on December 15, Nissan and Lucasfilm teamed up to create Star Wars-themed versions of seven Nissan vehicles, which will come with wraps, lights, and other accessories inspired by the films.
Nissan’s Safety Technology
The AR experience features droids and Stormtroopers and demonstrates Nissan’s safety technology, letting the user select different technologies that are explained by a character from the film. The Nissan North American VP of marketing, Jeremy Tucker, said Nissan aims to bring “retail theatre” to Nissan showrooms.
Virtual Reality Shopping Experience
Tucker also said that Nissan’s approach to the holiday season will stand out from the Christmas-focused crowd, populating dealerships with Stormtroopers instead of Christmas decorations, and makes for a more interactive shopping experience with virtual reality. According to Tucker, the partnership isn’t about benefiting from the Star Wars name; “it’s truly about a celebration of the passion point of the film and the technologies and the future that we see with Nissan.”
